LONG-TIME CADKEY CUSTOMER SPITZ INC. UPGRADES TO KUBOTEK KEYCREATOR
Leading Planetarium Manufacturer Purchases Multiple Upgrades and Additional KeyCreator Licenses
Marlborough, MA - December 20, 2004 - Kubotek USA today announced it has received an order for multiple upgrades as well as additional licenses from one of the world's leading designers of planetariums, Spitz Inc. The Pennsylvania-based Spitz has purchased, installed and is currently working with the latest version of Kubotek KeyCreatorTM (formerly CADKEY), geometry-based design and modeling technology.
A long time CADKEY user, Spitz is one of the world's leading design and manufacturing firms specializing in planetariums and domed structures. As the leaders in this field, Spitz provides a single source for these huge projects -- from initial design through final installation. Because of this approach, Spitz has been tapped to manufacture many high profile projects including the "Casino of the Sky" at the Mohegan Sun Resort and Casino.
Unveiled in September 2001, the "Casino of the Sky" features an enormous suspended dome that acts as the sky above the casino's gambling floor, providing ever-changing cosmic displays. Spitz designed the multi-purpose dome to serve as a projection surface for lighting effects, cloud projection and other multi-media projections. The 150-foot diameter sky is one of the largest projection domes in the world.
In addition to the Mohegan Sun project, Spitz has also created unique one-of-a-kind-structures for the Volkswagen Autostadt, Sea World in Orlando, The Glasgow Science Centre, the Denver Museum of Nature and Science, and the Tampa (Bay) Port Authority.
"Our reputation is based on a long history of manufacturing top-quality products and to do so we need a top-quality tool," said Chris Wright, director of design engineering at Spitz. "That is why, when it was time to upgrade, KeyCreator was the obvious choice.
"We work on many very intricate and precise projects, and need to have a high degree of confidence in our software tools," Wright continued. "Based on our long standing satisfaction with the company's products, selecting Kubotek's KeyCreator was a very easy choice."
"We are committed to providing the best technology and products to our customers," said Robert Bean, chief operating officer, Kubotek USA. "Anytime long-term customers like Spitz express their satisfaction by coming back for new products, it is a great endorsement of both our approach and our product vision."
Kubotek KeyCreator builds on the heritage of CADKEY, the first true 3D MCAD software for the desktop. KeyCreator combines both the latest in geometry-based design and modeling technology, and a legacy of success in helping customers in the design of tooling, complex machinery, fixtures, molds, dies in a multitude of product development industries including automotive, aerospace, heavy equipment, sports equipment, medical device, and many more.
The KeyCreator creation engineering product line includes multidimensional design and drafting, NC programming and reverse engineering capabilities. The rapidly expanding product line features the company's unique geometry-based foundation with localized feature editing and sophisticated deformation techniques. These capabilities are particularly useful for design teams working with advanced designs of solid models because KeyCreator blends surface, solids and wireframe modeling, allowing easy modification and editing functionality.
