KUBOTEK USA OFFERS COMPREHENSIVE FREE MULTI-CAD VIEWER WITH SUPPORT FOR CATIA, UG, PRO/E AND MORE
Convenient Access to Design Data Supports Continued Interoperability Gains
Marlborough, MA - May 24, 2005 - Kubotek USA today introduced the Kubotek SpectrumT, a free downloadable software solution designed to provide convenient access to design data stored in all the most commonly used computer-aided design (CAD) formats, including Pro/ENGINEER, UG, CATIA, SolidWorks, Inventor, KeyCreator, CADKEY, AutoCAD and more. A multi-CAD engineering tool, Spectrum provides an easy way for engineering and non-engineering professionals to access engineering and design data, improving inter-departmental communications flow and helping manufacturers speed products to market.
Kubotek Spectrum is immediately available for free download at www.kubotekusa.com/products/spectrum
"Engineers and designers continue to struggle with receiving design files in a wide variety of formats but they perpetrate the same issues within their own organizations by locking their co-workers out of access to the product models," stated Robert Bean, Kubotek USA's chief operating officer. "The Kubotek Spectrum is one of the most efficient and certainly one of the most cost-effective ways to democratize access to design data."
"Spectrum is the most comprehensive free viewer available today," said John McCullough, product manager, Kubotek. "Other free viewers have limited capabilities, either they can't print or they provide access to only a limited number of file formats. Spectrum allows users to view, print, publish and interrogate numerous CAD formats."
Mark Dessureau, of Dessureau Machines Inc., a custom machining and fabrication company in Vermont, is one example of a Kubotek customer looking forward to being able to use Kubotek Spectrum. Dessureau Machines provides custom design and engineering services to a number of mid-to-large manufacturers, including Ben & Jerry's, Green Mountain Coffee Roasters, Wyeth Nutritionals, Bombardier and others. Dessureau receives CAD files from customers and original equipment manufacturers. Then he and his team are asked to design and manufacture machine components and replacement machinery parts. Dessureau Machines currently uses a number of different.
"Right now, our team, both the manufacturing team and the office staff, use several different viewers, including the SolidWorks viewer, in order to access and view CAD files," explains Dessureau. "Even though we only work in KeyCreator, our customers send us product information in many formats -- SolidWorks, Autocad, .DXF, etc. In particular, I am looking forward to having a viewer that my office staff can use to print out drawings from all kinds of CAD files. We'll also be able to have our customers and partners use Kubotek Spectrum. They can download the free viewer to access our drawings."
Kubotek Spectrum is a convenient way to review design data stored in the most common and current engineering file formats, without the danger of changing the data in any way. Available as a download, the professional grade viewer, which has a Windows interface, can be easily mastered by non-engineering professionals working in the marketing, sales, executive, and support or service departments.
Features and functionality include:
- Print or plot to all Windows supported devices
- Verify entity attributes and positions
- Measure any size, distance, area or volume (solids)
- Modify display using standard pan, zoom, rotate, and render functions
- Rotate display to stored view orientations
- Hide levels/layers, entities and parts
- Split the document window into 2-4 separate viewports
- Open multiple files at the same time
- Create custom print setup configurations with full control of pen, color, width and dash size handling
